I’m Grayson Snyder, a culinary enthusiast with a passion for barbecue. Originating from Rock Hill, SC, my journey takes root in a childhood shaped by an unwavering passion for three key elements – food, music, and travel.
After tying the knot with Amy, we embarked on a decade-long adventure, working hard and playing even harder. Our escapades led us to music festivals and concerts all across the country, where the highlight was always exploring new places and savoring the local cuisine, whether it was innovative twists or timeless classics.
What captivates me about BBQ is its diverse interpretations across regions. From sauce to wood choice, and even the cut of meat, every corner of the country infuses its unique twist into this culinary art. This realization ignited a love for experimenting with various BBQ styles during our extensive travels.
The turning point came when I joined a friend in the world of smoking meat for epic annual parties. When the chance to own my smoker presented itself, I seized it without hesitation. That decision marked the beginning of Nothin’ Butt Smoke BBQ – a journey driven by passion, flavor, and a love for the craft.

Welcome to the flavorful world of Nothin Butt Smoke BBQ! What started as a personal challenge – pitting my skills against seasoned BBQ pros – turned into a journey of unexpected success and mouthwatering creations.
I dove into the competitive BBQ scene with the determination to learn and adapt fast. From my humble smoker setup beside teams with towering trailers and matching team shirts, Nothin’ Butt Smoke BBQ emerged.
The team name was a spontaneous decision on the competition paperwork, capturing the essence of my passion for crafting exceptional BBQ. The competition wasn't just a trial by fire; it was a triumph.
Standing beside seasoned pros, I clinched a top 5 finish, a shiny trophy, and some prize money. That taste of victory sparked a demand from friends – when was I cooking again? That's when it hit me – turning my passion into a business. After announcing a bbq sale on social media, and setting up in my driveway, I sold out in just three hours.
The unexpected success led me to a crossroads: treat it as a one-time venture or embrace the demand. I chose the latter. With friends clamoring for more, I enlisted the help of Michael Rivers, a fellow pit master and longtime friend. Together, we've not only met the growing demand but have created a dynamic team, an enticing menu, and a loyal customer base.
